On December 17, the UEHJ, represented by Duarte Pinto, member of the executive committee, and Patrick Gielen, secretary of the UIHJ bureau, participated in the 2nd Consortium Meeting of the European project JODES (Judicial Officer Digital Exchange System), co-funded by the European Commission. The meeting, held in a hybrid format at the CNHJ premises in Paris, provided an opportunity to assess the project’s progress and outline the next steps.
The central objective of the JODES project is to strengthen secure digital exchanges between judicial officers at the European level, relying on the e-CODEX platform. Several key points were discussed during the meeting:
- Progress on deliverables: Deliverables D5.1 (Opening conference) and D2.1 (Feasibility report) were validated, while others, such as the gap analysis (D3.1 and D4.1) and access to the contact point (D2.2), are in the finalization phase for early 2025.
- Timeline of the next steps:
-
- Deployment of the national solution and e-CODEX infrastructure testing by the end of March 2025.
- User training and operational deployment scheduled for April 28, 2025.
- Challenges to address: Identified challenges include data validation in the CDB (common database) and the integration of access accounts for practitioners from participating Member States.
The UEHJ emphasized the importance of high-quality training to ensure effective use of the JODES system. Indeed, the European Commission highlighted that, while the technical aspect is crucial, it must be accompanied by practical adaptation by end-users.
As a key partner in the project, the UEHJ continues to play an essential role in coordinating and communicating activities, actively contributing to improving cross-border exchanges within the European judicial space.
